One could say this is a true-to-plant spirit, with a crisp and bold no nonsense taste profile with notes of grass, pepper, citrus and of course, agave.
To be considered a reposado tequila, the agave distillate is aged in oak barrels for a minimum 2 months and a maximum 12 months. Reposado tequila is 100% blue agave, with a range in colour from faint brown or a subtle golden colour, to a darker golden colour, a result depending on the variety of the barrel used in the aging process. Best for sipping, but also a great whisky substitute in an Old Fashioned or Tequila Sour.

These rich and complex tequilas have been aged 1 to 3 years in oak barrels no larger than 600 litres. Deep amber in colour, the aging barrels impart the woodiness of their oak and create a sophisticated taste profile. A relative term, this “vintage” class of tequila is meant to be sipped but also makes a great whisky substitute in an Añejo Manhattan or Spicy Margarita.
Añejo tequilas share a toasty, slightly oaky and spicy, with vanilla, caramel and citrus finish.
